So I don't forget these Classifications.
Steampunk- set in Victorian era (or in an age with Victorian qualities) with sci-fi/fantasy elements. So named because steam is the main source of energy. Good examples would be Last Exile and League of Extraordinary Gentlemen.
Biopunk- features a biotech revolution and dubious "black lab" unethical experimentation on something. The Uglies would probably be considered biopunk.
Cyberpunk- set in a futuristic, highly technological dystopian world.
Dieselpunk- set were diesel is the main form of energy. Sky Captian and the World of Tomorrow is the best example.
Elfpunk- urban fantasy consisting of faeries and elves set in urban environments. Holly Black is well known for writing the best elfpunk, but there are plenty of examples of it (shockingly).
Mythpunk- blends myths with urban fantasy, academic fantasy, worldbuilding, etc.
Splatterpunk- highly violent horror fiction.
Stonepunk- set in prehistoric times with technological advances.
Bronzepunk- set in the Bronze Age with steam powered advancement. Mary Renault was known for this.
Sandalpunk- set in Roman ages with scientific advancement.
Candlepunk- set in late medieval times with scientific advancement.
Clockpunk- set in Renaissance era with scientific advancement. Discworld is the best example.
